Product information "Studio vase Maria Kohler - Villeroy & Boch Mettlach"
An extremely rare studio vase by the important German potter Maria Kohler - designed for Villeroy & Boch Mettlach. Around 1960. In all likelihood, this vase is a a unique object. Maria Kohler worked as a designer for Villeroy & Boch from 1949 till 1965. In 1954, she went on a study trip to Sweden (Upsala-Ekeby). In the subsequent years, the newly-gained inspiration was of high importance for her hand-thrown ceramics - this vase is a great example. Dark mangan clay, with earthy glaze in different shades of brown. Height 10.2'. Marked underneath with impressed company stamp plus the artist's engraved initial. Perfect condition.
