Dutch Ceramic Lantern / Candle Holder in the Manner of Pieter Groeneveldt / Zaalberg, 1960s/70s

Large decorative Dutch ceramic lantern / candle holder, probably from the 1960s or 1970s. The piece is not signed, so the maker cannot be confirmed with certainty. However, the form, surface treatment and glaze strongly recall Dutch studio pottery in the circle or style of Pieter Groeneveldt / Zaalberg.

The lantern has a rounded jug-like shape with handle, narrow neck and a large front opening. Small pierced holes around the upper body create a beautiful light effect when used with a candle. The exterior shows an earthy, rustic surface in ochre, brown and black tones, while the interior has a striking blue-green frit glaze. Not signed.

A very decorative and unusual vintage ceramic object for collectors of Dutch studio pottery, Mid Century ceramics and expressive handmade design.
