Art Deco teapot warmer Tropas - Pollopas

A Pollopas tea warmer - made by Tropas / Troisdorf - Germany, around 1930. Body Pollopas, lid metal with typical Art Deco-decor. Pollopas is a kind of early plastic which is based on phenol casting resin. It has similar qualities like bakelit, but it ws possible to produce it in brighter/ shiny colours. The production which was stopped in 1939 cost three to four times more than thse of bakelite. Meanwhile, Pollopas-items (which are oftne outstanding in design and quality) belong to the rare examples of early plastics. - Height 2.8', diameter 6.7'. Design Ludwig Koenig (attr.). Marked underneath with moulded manufacturer-stamp. Excellent condition.
