An expressive studio pottery vase by Gisela Kaufmann of Worpswede, dating from around the 1960s/1970s.

The vase is made from dark clay and partly finished with a glossy orange glaze. The contrast between the dark matte body and the vivid glazed areas gives the piece a particularly distinctive appearance.

Marked on the base with an impressed owl symbol, as shown.
